The baby's room!

I thought it was about time for me to finally show what our baby's room looks like! Not to mention I have finally worked on it a bit. I was waiting to organize the room until after we had our baby shower so that way I would know what I needed to buy and all that jazz. So far we haven't had to buy much because some wonderful people at church and work were getting rid of stuff and gave it to us.

In this first picture we have our two car seats and the stroller. The car seat on top fits with the stroller. It was our 3rd baby purchase. I have heard they are really nice to have and so we drove all the way up to Denver on a very nasty night to get it. It was hailing and raining and snowing the whole way so it took us a long time to get there. But that was a good deal for a stroller/carseat combo for $80. And it is Graco, who from what I have seen, get good reviews. There are also lots of clothes hanging up in the closet. I will take them down probably but I didn't have a place to put them originally so I put them there to get them out of the way!

This is a swing a lady at church gave us and the bag under the swing unzips into a changing mat for travel! I thought that was pretty neat. Someone from work gave it to me. It has the hooter hider that Bethany gave me and sling from Jennifer and front pack carrier. Then the bassinet that my boss gave to me because he was cleaning out his house and didn't need it for his grandkids anymore.

This is our very neat crib. Another family in our ward didn't need it for their son any more because he got too big so they gave it to us and then we got the mattress at our baby shower as well as the bedding. You can see the blue thing under the crib, its a baby bath that we got at the shower, and then one of those bouncy vibrating chairs and also a graco playpen that people from work gave to us. The boxes and bags next to the crib are clothes from newborn to 9 months that I need to go through and separate and put away! We paid $60 total for the two big boxes. They are packed with clothes!

The cabinet we got from our neighbors after they had cleaned out a rental property. They are the maintenance guys and so they get to keep and sell whatever the find left at properties which is pretty sweet. So we needed an extra shelf so they gave us that and it is full of blankets that we have accumulated over the last few months, and burp rags, and games and books! Then we have my awesome massager. Dad and Mom gave that to me a few years ago for Christmas but I like to sit in it and unwind. The chair is Chris' office chair that he loves. He never uses it so I stole it for my massager.

This is the changing table that our mexican neighbors were throwing away. We used to have the matching crib but we sold that when we got the nicer, sturdier one. Isn't that a neat diaper cake? One of Chris' co-workers gave it to him yesterday. The layers are all different size diapers. I thought it was pretty sweet. We got another cake but it wasn't as tall. It did have other stuff tucked in it as well for the baby bath. The changing table also doubles into his "dresser" since we don't want to buy one if we are moving at the end of the summer. Just another piece of furniature to lug around! So I bought the storage bins and now I just need to separate all the clothes and put his current size into the bins. Then we will be all set for this baby! Its only two and a half weeks away until my due date. I could have this baby any time! Chris and I are really excited to meet our little miracle...

Easter!

Chris and I are trying to establish good practices before we have children who understand them so that they are a part of their lives. One of the things we want to do with our children is dye eggs. Also, easter is Chris' favorite holiday (I think). So we like to dye eggs and have fun together while doing this. This first picture is of our wonderful dozen eggs cooking!

Next, Chris was doing the dinner dishes and I got all of the stuff together. Last year for Easter we had bought a egg dyeing kit and I had kept the pellets and stickers and the egg dryers so we found that and I got the water ready to dye the eggs!

I was camera happy so I took a lot of pictures of Chris while we were doing this whole thing. We had crayons out so we could draw on the eggs and we had the dye and spoons. I like to write things on the eggs so that is what I did for all of my eggs and Chris was lazy on a lot of his and just put them into the water. Unfortunately the dye was not very strong or else they were pastel colors and so a lot of the eggs were left in the water for a long time but never got very dark.

Chris took a picture of me to show that I was there to dye eggs as well. We had a dozen eggs so he got to do 6 and I got to do 6. I also wanted to show everyone my huge belly! It looks bigger in pictures than it usually does, to me at least. One more month and I lose a lot of belly size!

There were our finished eggs. As you can see, the pink eggs were neon colors and for the most part the others were pastels. I think we had one dye pellet that was tye dyed or not mixed because the two eggs that were put in that one turned out with multiple colors. I think those were the neatest colors.

So, now we have the tradition of dyeing eggs before the Easter bunny comes! We went to church and when we got home, Chris went upstairs to change and the Easter Bunny came and hid the eggs while he was doing that. We taped him finding the eggs on our video camera but I don't know how to upload videos. Plus, it probably isn't all that exciting to watch so our kids and Chris and I will probably be the only people to ever actually watch all of our videos. All in all, it was a good Easter day. Church was wonderful with our lessons and teaching the Sunbeams about the resurrection. During sharing time they had the same lesson and even saw some of the same pictures and every time the primary president asked a question and showed a picture our sunbeams would turn back to us and say Teacher! We did that in class! It was nice to know that they do pay attention, especially to important things like that lesson. We didn't have a big Easter dinner but that was okay. I need to watch my girlish figure. Also, Chris and I found it hard to find the motivation to make the big dinner when it was just the two of us. Maybe next year!
